HORSE BREEDS

By: Lily

There are hundreds of horse breeds. Let me name some: Thoroughbreds, Hanoverians, Warmbloods, Welsh Ponies, and Friesians. Some horses are best suited for jumping, and some are all around. Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, and Arabians can be used for really anything. Then, some horses really excel in jumping. Such as Thoroughbreds, Irish Sport Horses, Selle Francais, and Hosteiners. All in all, there are many horse breeds and they all can really do anything that's suited to them.

COLORING AND MARKINGS

By: Lily

Horses can have many color variations. Some colors are Chestnuts, Bays, Greys, Palominos, Buckskins, Cremellos, and many more. American paint horses have a Tobiano kind of pattern. Some common leg markings include Coronet, Socks, Stockings, and half pastern coverings. Then some face markings are Blazes, Stars, Stripes, and Snips. All horses are individuals, but they all have similar characteristics

DIFFERENT TACK

By: Lily

There are many different types of tack. The tack that we will be talking about is English. Dressage saddles have longer flaps. They usually are black or very dark brown. Bridles have many parts such as reins, bit, brow band, nose band, check piece, and throat latch. The girth is used to keep the saddle on so you don't fall off the horse. It attaches to each side of the saddle flaps. There are many different types of tack and they all are used for different purposes.
